This 700 sf guesthouse on a gently sloping site surrounded by oak trees provides a stark contrast to the existing house’s ranch style. Conceived of as a pavilion in the woods, the structure’s juxtaposition of two rectangular volumes — one recalling the grid of downtown Austin, the other the grid of University of Texas - creates multiple sculptural configurations to establish a dialog with the site.
