HAUPTMAN-WOODWARD RESEARCH INSTITUTE Buffalo, NY

For their new research laboratory on the Buffalo-Niagara medical campus, the Hauptman-Woodward Institute's challenge to the Yazdani Studio team was three-fold: to make science visible, to demystify the work of scientists; and to encourage interaction among scientists, whose work is typically performed in isolation. The 700-square foot building, consisting of a curved office wing and a square laboratory block with a glass atrium joining the two, was completed in early 2005.
